OUR VISION.

“CONNECTING PEOPLE (YOUTHS) WITH POSSIBILITIES.”

OUR MISSION.

“CREATING VALUE IN THE YOUTH AND ENSURE YOUTH PROGRAMMES ARE YOUTH PARTICIPATORY.”

INTEGRITY

This is the core of every thing.By observing high moral principals and professional standards and as a matter of fact, our level of success is dependent on the general public’s trust, and the big record of success stories that we receive every day.

EXCELLENCE.

There are very many youth organizations across the globe, but there is only one YOUTH LIFE NETWORK (YLN) in the whole world. Our services are in terms of:-Social impact, Empowering of Community, Talent Development and everything else we do is the best and we believe in maintaining this standard.

MERITOCRACY.

All human beings are carefully and wonderfully made in the great image of God; and our Creator is a God of possibilities, so it is upon this statement that we base on to give everyone of His creation an opportunity and advantage to access equal opportunities so as to bring the best out of them.

We believe in creating avenues of access and providing the best career opportunities for all the youth volunteers and members of the organization without segregation.

 SATISFACTION.

We fully understand the challenges faced by the youth as our main focus; so we have a well trained team of social workers who voluntarily have adopted a number of programmes to meet the challenges and we continue to strive to put satisfaction of all the beneficiaries as our number one priority.

A SITUATION ANALYSIS OF THE YOUTH IN MOST PLACES AND UGANDA IN PARTICULAR.

As one of the factors that lead to the foundation of YLN, our members raised issues ranging from youth livelihood to unemployment and here are some of the problems that need immediate attention.

YOUTH POPULATION.

As a matter of fact; the youth ranging from the ages of 14- 29 years, constitute to the largest percentage of the General population and in Uganda, this number is estimated to be over 63%.

 HEALTH.

The highest number of morbidity and mortality cases in Uganda is of the youth;
This is very sensitive. Health related problems specifically

such as:-

  1.  Sexual and reproductive health.
  2. Drug abuse.
  3.  Mental disorders.
  4. Early teenage pregnancies.
  5. HIV/ AIDS etc.

All these can be controlled if we come up with policies and device better means of approach.

EDUCATION AND TRAININGS.

The Education Curriculum in Uganda doesn’t meet real life aspirations, demands and society needs of the people and so this leads to only a few youths benefiting from the Education systems.

The issue of school drop outs has not been addressed; the rates are high, either due to lack of funds or other related issues. Yet there is no back up plan for the victims.

On this matter there is need for construction of recreation centres, rehabilitation centres and opening of vocational training institutions to cab the situation.

The list goes on and on to; – crimes
– Social and culture
– Gender and sports etc.

In YLN, we believe that all these can be addressed and controlled if only we engage the youth in participation; while developing these programmes right at decision levels other than having them as just and only beneficiaries of these poorly planned programmes.

Further more, YLN recognizes the unique experiences of the youth. Talking about the youth, we look at all male and females aged between 12- 30 years. This is a period of great emotional, physical, and psychological new experiences and if not directed or guided, can lead to wrong decisions in life and the most important thing is that this period in one’s life determines a lot on how a person is going to be in life.

POVERTY AND UNEMPLOYMENT.

Poverty and unemployment are some of the major problems affecting the youth. However, the major causes of these are:-

– Lack of focus by the existing programmes planned to benefit the youth.

 – Lack of employable skills.
